About the Position
TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Med / Surg / Ortho RN in Kearney, Nebraska, 68847!
Job Title : Registered Nurse Profession : RN Specialty : Medical Surgical / Orthopedic Duration : 15 Weeks Shift : 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift : 12 Experience : Minimum 2 years License : Required Certifications : BLS Certification Must-Have : Driver's license required Description : Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated facilities. Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Refusal to remove artificial nails will result in termination of the contract. RNs must pass an exam during orientation. This is an open-book exam on skills learned. Candidates will be provided with all necessary resources to pass. A minimum score of 90% is required to pass, or they will be terminated. The unit has an average of 22 beds with an average daily census of 6. The nurse to patient ratio is 1 : 5-6. Common diagnoses include total knee replacements, total hip replacements, ankle replacements, total shoulders, and spine surgeries. RNs are not required to titrate drips. Common titratable and / or set rate drips include pain medications, antibiotics, and blood. There is a charge nurse on each shift. The charge nurse does take an assignment. Patient care technicians are available on this unit, with a ratio of 1 to 13. Tele monitor techs will read and interpret rhythms. Shifts and scheduling allow for self-scheduling with cyclic rotation. Weekend requirements are every other weekend. Holiday requirements will rotate in with permanent staff. Floating may be required to the Medical Surgical, rehab, or PCU with MedSurg acuity. The unit requires one day of department-specific orientation. Successful attributes for nurses include being team-oriented, helping teammates, being flexible, taking ownership within the department, and demonstrating a willingness to learn. Requests for time off need to be submitted upfront, with limitations on additional requests. The facility can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment. The charting system used is EPIC. There is a BSN requirement for submission. The Trauma Level is 2, and the care setting is acute.
