Job description
Position Purpose :
Responsible for installing and maintaining BEMC's SCADA equipment and associated communication devices, assisting the cooperative's AMI Team with diagnosing communication issues and repairing PLC (Power Line Carrier) substation equipment, and managing additional OT (Operational Technology) system devices using the cooperative's DMA (data management and automation) application suite.
Essential Functions :
Perform SCADA database editing, display editing, and control point testing. Coordinate database updates with substation / field supervisors to ensure data integrity.
Check system statuses daily and notify the appropriate team if corrective action is needed.
Install SCADA equipment and related communication devices, including Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), cellular radios, etc. Apply updates, patches and configuration changes when necessary.
Maintain a contemporary knowledge of communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, SEL, LG2179, etc.) and devices to support the Cooperative's SCADA system.
Possess a working knowledge of PLC substation components and aid with troubleshooting and repairing PLC substation equipment when necessary.
Oversee BEMC's DMA application suite, providing disturbance monitoring, configuration monitoring, and credential management for distribution system equipment, and assist with the development of a FLISR (fault location, isolation, and service restoration) program.
Analyze OT system data to identify trends and issues. Work with the Data Services team to generate reports and dashboards for OT decision-making.
Develop and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and troubleshooting guides, to facilitate effective system management and training.
Other Duties :
Keep well informed about cooperative programs and services and assist in the implementation of new cooperative programs when requested.
Follow safety procedures and keep work area clean and orderly.
Maintain a valid North Carolina driver's license.
Perform after-hours system maintenance and repairs as needed.
Requirements :
An associate degree in electrical engineering technology or database administration is preferred.
5+ years of utility experience is preferred.
Programmable Logic Controller and / or SCADA experience is preferred.
Power Line Carrier (PLC) experience is preferred.
Database administration experience is preferred.
