Director of Finance - Construction Industry Focus

This full-time, permanent Director of Finance role is with a growing commercial building automation company just northeast of Madison. The company designs, builds, and services integrated HVAC and building automation systems for large-scale commercial projects across healthcare, high-rise, office, industrial, municipal, and mixed-use sectors. Known for its technical excellence and strong design-build reputation, the company offers a stable workload, diverse and challenging projects, and a collaborative culture where employees are valued and supported. This strategic finance role provides the opportunity to work closely with executive leadership, influence operational efficiency, and contribute to long-term growth in a company that values integrity, innovation, and professional development.

The duties and responsibilities should be as follows :

  • Direct and support financial operations, including reporting, banking, 401(k), payments, and strategic planning to assist the President with forecasting and growth initiatives
  • Oversee ESOP administration and education, manage IT functions and contractors, and collaborate with HR on insurance, benefits, and compliance matters
  • Partner with department leaders on cross-functional efforts including recruitment, sales support, and operational alignment
  • Maintain a high level of integrity in protecting proprietary information, company systems, and digital assets
  • Contribute to company culture and collaboration by supporting special projects, events, and internal initiatives across departments
  • The background of the successful candidate must include the following :

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • 5–7 years of accounting experience with progressive responsibilities
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong professional presence
  • Strategic thinking skills with the ability to analyze, solve problems, and provide financial insight
  • A solid work history free of short-term roles (minimum of 3 years per employer)
  • Being a US citizen or green card holder
