Job Title: Welder

Job Description

This role focuses on MIG welding primarily on mild steel, with some stainless steel work, in a large manufacturing environment. You will perform a range of fabrication tasks including material preparation, sanding, grinding, and bracket layout, while maintaining a clean and organized workspace and tooling. In addition to hands-on welding and fabrication, you will inspect your work, maintain your equipment, and ensure consumables are replenished on the production floor.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG welding on mild steel and occasional stainless steel to meet production and quality standards.
  • Carry out tack welding and fabrication tasks, including fitting, assembly, and structural layout of parts and brackets.
  • Prepare materials for welding by cutting, sanding, grinding, and cleaning surfaces to ensure proper weld quality.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings to accurately complete welding and assembly work.
  • Inspect welds and finished components to verify dimensional accuracy and structural integrity.
  • Maintain welding equipment, tools, and workstations in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
  • Monitor and replenish welding consumables and supplies on the production floor as needed.
  • Operate cranes and other material-handling equipment safely to move and position large or heavy components.
  • Participate in welding automation processes and follow established procedures for automated equipment.
  • Support large diameter rolling operations as required in the fabrication process.
  • Follow 5S and lean manufacturing practices to improve efficiency, quality, and workplace organization.
  • Work assigned shifts, including days and nights, and adhere to strict attendance expectations.
  • Use basic computer skills to complete required production, quality, or training documentation.
  • Consistently follow safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE and safe operation of tools and equipment.
  • Contribute to a professional, drama-free work culture by focusing on performing job duties reliably and respectfully.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings accurately.
  • Hands-on fabrication skills, including measuring, cutting, fitting, and assembling metal components.
  • Proficiency using tape measures and hand tools with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or fabrication environment with production deadlines.
  • Basic computer skills for accessing work instructions and completing documentation.
  • Ability to operate cranes and material-handling equipment safely and effectively.
  • Willingness and ability to work shift schedules, including days and nights, as assigned.
  • Strong attendance and reliability, with the ability to consistently be present and on time.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace and following safety and quality procedures.

Why Work Here?

You will join a growing, future-focused energy manufacturing operation with a strong pipeline of work and significant planned expansion, including new facilities and a large increase in available roles. The environment offers climate-controlled indoor work and steady, consistent workloads, supporting stability and work-life balance. Employees benefit from a robust benefits program, performance-based incentives such as monthly recognition bonuses while on a temporary assignment and quarterly bonuses after conversion, and clear opportunities for self-paced advancement and cross-training across multiple skills. The culture emphasizes professionalism, reliability, and a straightforward, drama-free approach to work, supported by regular employee surveys and on-site amenities like catered meals, free snacks, cooling towels, and convenient access to refreshments.

Work Environment

The role is based in a large, climate-controlled manufacturing facility focused on fabrication, production, welding, and assembly. You will work around welding equipment, cranes, rolling machinery, and automation systems, following lean manufacturing and 5S practices. The first week consists of a New Employee Orientation (NEO) schedule from Monday to Friday, 7:30 . to 4:00 ., after which you transition directly to your assigned shift, which may be days or nights. Attendance expectations are strict, and missed time without prior approval is treated as unexcused. The culture encourages a straightforward, "do your job and go home" mindset, minimizing workplace drama and emphasizing respect, reliability, and safety. Dress and personal protective equipment are typical for a manufacturing and welding environment, with appropriate workwear and safety gear required to perform duties safely around machinery, welding operations, and material-handling equipment.
