Position Title : Youth Pastor

Reports to : Lead Pastor

Overview

The Youth Pastor leads the discipleship, spiritual formation, pastoral care, and shepherding of all young people at Branch Church between 6th grade and th grade. By overseeing the ministry teams, gatherings, and strategies of Branch Youth Group (BYG), the Youth Pastor shapes the culture and environments of these ministries to lead young people to follow Jesus and live Spirit-empowered lives of power, love, and self-discipline. In both individual conversations and in ministry gatherings, the Youth Pastor makes the most of every opportunity to lead young people to Jesus and disciple them into the full knowledge of and surrender to the Love, Word, and Spirit of God. The Youth Pastor is the primary preacher and teacher at Wednesday night services.

As a leader on the pastoral team, the Youth Pastor responds to needs and opportunities to shepherd and care for the congregation through counsel, prayer, Sunday preaching, visitation, and officiating weddings and funerals.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain the vision of BYG on a continual basis and lead students into a passionate and growing relationship with the Lord
  • Cultivate BYG ministry environments marked by biblical truth, responsiveness to the Spirit, authenticity, trust, safety, fun, and community
  • Lead weekly BYG gatherings with conviction, energy, inspiration, relevance, and wisdom and oversee every aspect of services in partnership with BYG leaders
  • Preach weekly messages at BYG that are high quality, biblically sound, relevant, and engaging
  • Provide pastoral care and counseling to all BYG students and families, both proactively and reacting to life circumstances
  • Identify, recruit, and develop BYG leaders who are spiritually mature and are equipped to effectively pastor and shepherd BYG students
  • Respond to creative and strategic opportunities to engage and mature students outside Wednesday gatherings, including special events, school functions, etc.
  • Develop key local partnerships that provide outreach opportunities for the students and families of Jefferson Park
  • Provide leadership and support in the pastoring needs of Branch Church, including counseling, visitation, and officiating weddings and funerals
  • Preach and teach at Sunday services as directed by the Lead Pastor

  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, equip, and mobilize high-capacity leaders and volunteers
  • Effective systems development and management
  • Excellent work ethic and organization and execution of priorities and responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire commitment, engagement, and follow-through
  • Creative, clear, and effective communication abilities, both written and verbal
  • Ability to effectively engage and teach large groups in a variety of public speaking formats such as preaching, teaching, presentation, and training
