The Speech Language Pathologist works with the Exceptional Student Services team to provide quality school-based speech language services, which include prevention, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of speech, language, social communication, and cognitive-communication disorders in children. The Speech Language Pathologist is a member of the IEP team and is responsible for developing appropriate IEP goals to meet students' needs, communicating with teachers, parents, and related service providers.
Role and Responsibilities
The duties of the Speech Language Pathologist include, but are not limited to, the following tasks :
Assessment
- Successfully articulating the role of speech therapy in the evaluation, intervention planning, and intervention process.
- Conducting assessments and evaluations in accordance with parent / guardian and student rights and Louisiana Bulletin 1508.
- Using a variety of appropriate tools and techniques to evaluate and report student progress.
