Job Summary :
The Patient Access Associate is responsible for registering patients in a courteous, professional and timely manner. Conducts patients / guarantor interviews, explains hospital policies, assists patients understand financial responsibilities, and informs patients on bill of rights. Insures all necessary demographic and financial data is obtained and accurately documented. Contacts insurance payers for verification of eligibility and benefits as needed. Ensures any pre-certification / authorization is obtained to meet individual payer payment protocols. Assists patients with a financial screening assessment for program eligibility. Process payments received as necessary.
Required Skills :
Ability to deal tactfully with Associates, patients, visitors and the general public.
Basic computer literacy and keyboarding skills required.
Effective written and verbal communication skills required.
Analytical and problem-solving skills required.
Knowledge of commercial and managed care payors and terminology.
Bilingual English / Spanish required.
Required Experience :
Work Experience :
Two years of experience in customer service related field; experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
License / Registrations / Certifications :
None
Education and Training :
High school diploma or equivalent.
Training or educational background with medical terminology and familiarity with ICD9 coding preferred. Learn More
