Patient Services Specialist

CBI provides residential, outpatient, inpatient, patient-centered medical homes, medication-assisted treatment, and crisis services to individuals experiencing crisis, opioid use disorder, homelessness, and mental illness.
CBI is the premiere non-profit fully integrated healthcare provider of substance use and behavioral health programs in Arizona, including prevention, education and treatment using cutting-edge, nationally recognized, evidence-based models.
Job Summary
The Patient Services Specialist is responsible for the front-end business operations for the assigned clinic including patient registration, verification of patient demographic information, create and maintaining patient electronic chart. This position answers incoming calls to the clinic and routes as needed, schedules intake appointments within established timeframes in the CBI EHR / EPM scheduling system. Obtains necessary demographic information including, but not limited to : name, address, phone number, e-mail address, insurance information. This position regularly interacts with current and potential patients, family members of people receiving services as well as community stakeholders and will require excellent communication and customer service skills. Completes insurance verifications for each patient visit and identifies any patient amounts due at the time service is provided. For uninsured patients, identifies any potential funding source, and identifies those potentially eligible for AHCCCS and refers to the eligibility and enrollment specialist for AHCCCS screening and application.
Notifies a clinical team member when registration is completed for services to be completed. Schedules follow up appointments for clinic services as indicated by the clinical team.
Skills / Requirements
- Highschool Diploma or GED is required. Bachelor's Degree in Business or Healthcare is preferred.
- 1- 3 years of experience with insurance verification and / or front desk experience in a medical office setting is preferred but not required of this position.
- Must have knowledge of AHCCCS, insurance, and strong customer service skills.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
