Payroll Accountant

Montgomery, AL

FLSA : Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Reports to : Chief Financial Officer

Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business-related field from an accredited college or university with accounting experience and proficiency using general ledger and other accounting software programs highly desired OR an associate degree in accounting or business-related field from an accredited vocational or business school with two years of progressive accounting experience and proficiency using general ledger and other accounting software required.

Job Duties :

• Responsible for timely and thorough payroll processing utilizing the electronic timekeeping and payroll system.
• Generates and maintains records of payroll, wages paid, associated withholdings for retirement, benefits, other contributions, and taxes withheld; maintains payroll records and accounts, and assists in preparing journal entries related to payroll on time.
• Troubleshoots and participates in problem-solving to resolve employee payroll concerns.
• Utilizes HR, payroll, and other databases to prepare various employment-related reports.
• Assist the accounting department in processing expenses.
• Works with auditors to facilitate the audit process collaboratively.
