As an Accountant with Baird Holm, you will be a valuable member of the Firm's Accounting and Finance department and will work with a a great team to perform accounting tasks as well as achieve the overall goals of the department. ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Responsible for daily cash management; review of bank account activity and completion of daily bank reconciliation. Ensures that all reconciling items are addressed timely to ensure accurate cash position.
- Manages bank exceptions daily with SinglePoint activity (check and ACH).
- Responsible for trust account accounting; ensures all transactions are recorded, prepares monthly reconciliations, communicates with the Attorneys and prepares annual letters to clients.
- Prepares monthly Partner distribution.
- Prepares monthly profit-sharing calculation for both employees and partners.
- Prepares monthly financial statements and associated reports and presentation materials for the Executive Committee and partners.
- Completes monthly reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts to ensure integrity and accuracy of account balances.
- Reviews Income and Expense account ledger balances and details to ensure accurate recording of income and expenses, making correcting entries as needed, and completes analytical review compared to prior year and budget values.
- Reviews the monthly management budget worksheets for distribution to Directors.
- Completes monthly sales and use tax returns and ensures systems are in place to capture data needed for accurate reporting.
- Reviews monthly benefits statements and reconciliations to ensure enrollment and payroll deductions are consistent.
- Prepares annual reports as required for partner, attorney and paralegal budget planning and compensation setting.
- Prepares reports and work papers for CPA annual review and tax return.
- Compiles data and completes surveys the Firm engages in for financial or other strategic purposes.
- Provides backup to AP Accountant for issuance of checks on demand or for out of office coverage.
- Supports other areas of the Accounting / Finance department with budgeting, client billings and collections, accounts payable, financial reporting and other financial tasks.
- Completes special projects as requested by management.
