SUMMARY
The Senior Payroll Manager for North America supervises payroll and time / attendance operations across the United States, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing in compliance with regional laws and regulations. This role involves managing a team of payroll professionals and vendor partners, collaborating with various departments, and optimizing payroll systems and processes to support the organization's strategic goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages the payroll processing operations to ensure the accuracy of payroll, deductions and taxes while ensuring payroll processes align with federal, state, and local laws, including regulatory reporting, labor laws and tax obligations.
- Manages and audits payroll processes to ensure that employee data pertaining to pay rate, taxes, and deductions is 100% accurate and that pay is delivered on schedule.
- Sets strategy and direction for US Operations in accordance with HR strategy initiatives and leads in the execution of key North America objectives and SLAs
- Ensures that all government reporting requirements for multi-state payroll taxes, withholdings, employer funded taxes and garnishments are met.
- Coordinates and oversees relationships with 3rd party payroll provider(s).
- Maintains internal controls for the payroll cycle.
- Prepares payroll-related financial account reconciliations for accuracy, compliance, and audit preparedness.
- Provides the accounting department with timely and accurate general ledger entries.
- Drive effective policy development, administrative oversight, responsiveness to customer needs, and timely communication across the organization.
- Keeps abreast of changes in federal, state, and local payroll and tax regulations to ensure compliance.
- Manages the preparation of necessary quarterly tax filings and the year-end payroll process including W-2 reporting.
- Lead new payroll implementations through the management and oversight of data needs and system configurations, driving standards in partnership with Digital HCM, HRIS, project teams and applicable vendor partners.
- Drive a demeanor of continuous improvement ensuring the compant is achieving standardization of processes and setups across all entities and that operations are effective and efficient in their delivery.
- Promote an internal customer service focus through effective leadership, supervision and development of staff. Address and resolve payroll-related issues and discrepancies promptly, ensuring employee satisfaction.
- Stays updated with software changes, coordinates testing of payroll system and signs off on testing to make sure it runs correctly.
- Provides troubleshooting to payroll software.
- Protects the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management and / or appropriate officials of potential fraud risk.
- After hours work periodically; as needed for payroll efficiency.
