Minimum 5-7 years of accounting experience specifically in payroll and payables, and a minimum of 2 years of experience supervising non-exempt accounting staff In-depth understanding of current California Wage and Hour laws and ability to apply knowledge to payroll scenarios Advanced proficiency in accounting principles and practices Intermediate or higher proficiency in Microsoft Excel Experience working with ADP Workforce Now preferred Experience working within Great Plains accounting software or equivalent program preferred
Job Description
We are recruiting for an Accounts Payable and Payroll Supervisor to join an advocacy organization in Sacramento. Our client offers succession planning, competitive benefits and an opportunity to work with a mission driven non-profit company. The Accounts Payable and Payroll Supervisor is responsible full cycle accounts payable and payroll processes and will have two direct reports (Staff Accountant & AP Clerk). Potential hybrid schedule after training (1-2 days per week remote). Salary : $75,000-$85,000 DOE.
The qualified candidate will have supervised a team of least two employees, desires to mentor and will have three years of full cycle accounting experience.
Primary responsibilities :
- Supervise, train and review performance of Accounting / Payroll Specialist and Accounting Representative, as well as serve as back-up in their absence
- Review and monitor payroll processing
- Review A / P data entry; initiate weekly check runs
- Maintain vendor bank information for ACH payments
- Prepare assigned account reconciliations and journal entries
- Prepare miscellaneous reports
- Prepare annual 1099s
- Ensure accounting policies and practices are consistent with current legal requirements, recommending changes as necessary
- Other tasks as necessary
