Job Description

The Terracon Eastern Midwest Region Facilities department is hiring an experienced due diligence consultant to do Property Condition Assessments and / or Facility Condition Assessments. Some overnight travel is required in this position.

This position can be based out of Terracon's Cleveland, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, or Detroit offices.

General Responsibilities :

Diagnose and develop repair / restoration solutions for the built environment. This includes all major components and systems of buildings and other infrastructure. Projects range from property condition assessments to detailed evaluations of structural systems, roofs, facades, plaza deck and below grade waterproofing systems, MEP systems, pavements, industrial floors, and construction materials. Assessment techniques include, visual examination, non-destructive testing, instrumentation and load testing, laboratory testing, and destructive examinations. Client deliverables range from reports of findings and recommendations to development of restoration design documents and construction oversight / administration.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities :

  • Mid-level Facilities professional responsible for managing and executing routine and sometimes more complex projects.
  • Works typically on small to medium sized projects.
  • Plans, schedules, conducts and / or coordinates assessments, inspections and testing of property, buildings and roofs.
  • Drafts reports and other client deliverables under the direction of more senior consultants. Strong written and verbal skills needed.
  • Makes recommendations, adaptations and modifications for review and consideration by senior consultants.
  • Participates on projects of greater complexity within more detailed consulting portfolios.
  • Performs or oversees contract administration for small-to-large consulting projects.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in building science or related building field and 5-7 years’ experience in facility assessment. Or, in lieu of a degree, 9-11 years’ related experience.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office 365. Ability to learn other software systems.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history
  • Preferred Certification :

  • Registered Roof Consultant (RRC), Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC) or equivalent certification preferred, but not required.
