Overview
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse I (APRN-I) provides comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing to address the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement. The APRN-I participates in daily neurosurgery specific inpatient responsibilities including inpatient rounds, consultations, bedside procedures, care conferences, parent education, parent updates on the plan of care, and communication with the primary teams and bedside nurses. The inpatient nurse practitioner is responsible for documenting progress notes, consultations, procedures, communication with consulting providers and the nursing staff. The inpatient role has collaboration with others on the neurosurgery team which are the neurosurgeons, the neurosurgery residents, the neurosurgery nurse practitioners, the inpatient care manager, and the social worker. No holidays or call-coverage will occur with this position at this point. Anticipate little to no ambulatory coverage.
Acute care certification preferred.
Advanced Practice Registered Nurses II (APRN-II) provides proficient, comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing to address the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement. An APRN II obtains a comprehensive health history; performs physical examination; formulates a plan of care and treatment; prescribes / performs diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and procedures; and participates in patient and family education. Each APRN-II demonstrates professional leadership and participates in evidenced-based practice, quality improvement, and / or research activities, and organizational development.
