Description

Southern New Hampshire University is a team of innovators. World changers. Individuals who believe in progress with purpose. Since 1932, our people-centered strategy has defined us - and helped us grow a team that now serves over 180,000 learners worldwide.

Our mission to transform lives is made possible by talented people who bring diverse industry experience, backgrounds and skills to the university. And today, we're ready to expand our reach. All we need is you.

Make an impact - from near or far

At SNHU, you'll have the option to work remotely in the following states : Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

We ask that our remote employees have access to a reliable internet connection and a dedicated, properly equipped workspace that is free of distractions. Employees must reside in, and work from, one of the above approved states.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Assistant VP of People Team Investigations, the Senior People Team Investigator serves as a lead case manager within the university's People Team Investigations unit. You will conduct objective investigations into complaints involving discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, retaliation, and violations of university policy. The Senior Investigator manages a high-volume caseload, ensures adherence to investigative protocols, and provides guidance to other investigators and HR partners.

We ask that you have in-depth expertise in employee relations and workplace investigations and the ability to navigate complex and sensitive matters with fairness, and compassion. Additionally, The Senior Investigator contributes to developing best practices, mentoring junior investigators, and promoting a culture of trust, equity, and accountability across the university. This role is remote. #LI-remote

What you'll do :

Conduct Workplace Investigations

Manage an independent caseload of complex and high-profile investigations from intake through resolution.

Create and follow investigative plans, ensuring all steps are documented and conducted.

Interview complainants, respondents, and witnesses using trauma-informed and standardized approaches.

Collect, analyze, and assess evidence, including documents, communications, and personnel records.

Draft comprehensive investigative reports with findings of fact, policy analysis, and recommendations.

Quality, Fairness, and Compliance

Ensure investigations are objective, equitable, and compliant with university policies and state / federal laws (Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, ADA, etc.).

Apply credibility assessments and ensure findings are well-reasoned and evidence based.

Maintain confidentiality and neutrality, safeguarding the integrity of the investigative process.

Collaboration and Communication

Partner with the AVP, Legal, HR Business Partners, and university leaders to ensure alignment and legal sufficiency.

Provide timely updates and communication to parties and stakeholders throughout the process.

Support the university's non-retaliation policy by educating parties on protections during and after investigations.

Mentorship and Team Contribution

Serve as a resource and subject matter expert for junior investigators, offering coaching, feedback, and case consultation.

Assist in developing and refining investigative SOPs, templates, and training.

Contribute to ongoing improvements in People Team investigation protocols, case tracking, and reporting.

Education and Prevention

Provide consultation and training to managers, employees, and HR partners on respectful workplace practices, discrimination / harassment prevention, and reporting protocols.

Assist with data analysis and reporting to identify trends and inform proactive strategies.

Attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential functions of this role.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What we're looking for :

Years of experience : 10+ years of related experience in employee relations, workplace investigations, or HR compliance.

Degree(s) : Bachelor's degree

Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, ADA, and related regulations.

Experience writing clear and comprehensive investigative reports.

Interviewing, analytical, and case management skills.

We believe real innovation comes from inclusion - where different experiences, perspectives and talents are celebrated. So if you're wondering whether SNHU is right for you, take the leap and apply. You might be just the person we're looking for.

Compensation

The annual pay range for this position is $94,130.00 - $150,634.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations. We expect this position to be hired in the following target hiring range $104,012.00 - $140,723.00.

Exceptional benefits (because you're exceptional)

You're the whole package. Your benefits should be, too. As a full-time employee at SNHU, you'll get :

High-quality, low-deductible medical insurance

Low to no-cost dental and vision plans

5 weeks of paid time off (plus almost a dozen paid holidays)

Employer-funded retirement

Free tuition program

Parental leave

Mental health and wellbeing resources
