Aside from this, the incumbent also serves as a knowledgeable resource for other healthcare professionals such as pharmacists, pharmacy students, and resident trainees. Another major aspect of this role is acting as a consultant for Nursing, Medical Staff, and patients on matters concerning medications, orders, specific pharmaceutical details, patient reactions, and any complaints or errors that arise. The position might also involve the care, treatment, or assessment of patients spanning different ages from neonates and adolescents to adults and elderly patients. The pharmacist 3 supervises technicians' non-professional tasks and manages daily organization activities. They may also be involved in specialized roles including (but not limited to) serving as the Residency Program Coordinator, taking on entity stewardship responsibilities, lending operational function support, or managing Investigational Drug Services at least half of the time.

    What You'll Do

  • Ensure patients receive high-quality pharmaceutical care that is safe, effective, and upholds their rights.
  • Compound and admix ingredients as needed, following all established policies and procedures. This includes tasks such as mixing intravenous solutions and irrigation solutions.
  • Give consultation and education to patients and their caregivers about medication options, including alternative drug therapies.
  • Verify the accuracy, appropriateness, and potential interactions of medications, making adjustments as per approved procedures.
  • Dispense medications and compounds, ensuring adherence to organizational policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Evaluate prescriber's medication orders in the context of the patient's overall therapeutic requirements.
  • Supervise Pharmacy Technicians in their non-professional duties, ensuring their work aligns with professional standards.
  • Assist with inventory, purchasing, and quality control of medications. This involves maintaining accurate records and properly charging or crediting pharmacy product accounts.
  • Regularly keep track of narcotics and other drug inventories and records as mandated by law.
  • What Will Make You Successful In The Role

  • Having a comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy care practices, medicinal calculations, terminologies, sterile techniques, standards, medicines, and their usage will be beneficial.
  • The employee should have a knack for researching, scrutinizing, and sharing vital pieces of information.
  • A good understanding of intricate processes, together with the ability to refine and properly record them, is essential.
  • Effective communication skills, both in verbal and written form, are required to convey thoughts clearly.
  • The employee needs to be familiar with relevant federal, state and regulatory norms that apply to this field.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary, and they include the ability to use required software applications, enter data, ensure information security, document medical information electronically, use hand-held scanning devices, and send emails.
  • Belonging Statement

We believe that all people should feel welcomed, valued and supported, and that our workforce should be reflective of the communities we serve.

  • The applicant needs to have a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy.
  • A minimum of (4) four years of professional experience is required for this role.
  • As an essential requirement, the applicant should hold a Pharmacist (RPH) license. Alternatively, having completed Residency Training can substitute this requirement.
