Job Summary

The UCD Infusion Pharmacies provides infusion medications for oncology and other patients who require infusion medications in an ambulatory setting. The Infusion Pharmacist is a vital part of the healthcare team, specializing in preparing and dispensing intravenous (IV) medications to patients receiving infusion therapy.
This role involves clinical, operational, and administrative responsibilities to ensure the safe and effective delivery of infusion medications, compliance with regulatory standards, and a high level of patient care.

Minimum Qualifications
For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and / or certification if required of the position
- California Pharmacist License eligible and possess a valid license at the time of hire
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college or university
- Previous experience in hospital, infusion pharmacy, or similar clinical setting
- Knowledge and capability of sterile compounding
- Thorough understanding and competency with aseptic technique and safe handling of hazardous meds
- Ability to supervise technicians and establish priorities of workflow in an infusion Pharmacy.
- Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive professional relationships with Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive professional relationships with other staff and patients.
- Working knowledge of oncology drugs and IV additive preparation.
- Working knowledge of non-oncology infusion drugs desired. Computer skills to facilitate electronic prescribing and physician order verification.
- Working knowledge of basic clinical software programs.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills, communication skills.

The Department of Pharmacy is a dynamic, integral, and critical part of patient care provided by UC Davis Health. As a department of greater than 600 professional, technical, and administrative support personnel, we focus on providing patient-centered medication management that optimizes outcomes through practice, education, research, and leadership through the continuum of care.
We also have the largest pharmacy residency program in the country with 46 total residents in 13 different programs.
Department Specific Job Scope
The Department of Pharmacy offers comprehensive pharmaceutical services (unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical services, infusion pumps, and teaching) throughout the health system complex 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The pharmacy services encompass inpatient pharmacy services as well as an expansive footprint in the ambulatory care space where we have clinical pharmacists embedded within our clinics and specialty care locations.
Our operational teams support the health system enterprise with three inpatient pharmacies, five outpatient pharmacies, two infusion pharmacies, a home infusion service line, and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores, and distribution.

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Rotating shifts : days, weekends, evenings, holidays. Variable hours. Must be able to work in Sacramento and Rocklin Infusion Pharmacies. No smoking on campus. Abide by Departmental attendance standards. Special protective equipment must be used for required preparation of hazardous substances and spill cleanup. TB test and blood serum sample required annually per The Joint Commission Standards.
