General Description : This a full-time grant-funded position that includes days and some evening hours at the ASU-Mid-South campus and off-site locations in Crittenden and Cross Counties. This position provides individual and group instruction to adult education students on a recurring basis in an online, distance, hybrid, or face-to-face format, helping them to achieve academic skill gains, overcome learning problems, and develop study skills. Adult Education Instructors teach GED classes (in all four main areas : math, science, reading and language arts, and social studies) and assist with the Workforce Alliance for Growth in the Economy. Other assistance might include : reviewing class materials, predicting test questions, job readiness training, or problem-solving.
This position reports to the Director of Adult Education.
Qualifications : A Bachelor's Degree and a valid Arkansas Teaching License in one of the four core areas (science, math, English, social studies) are required. If not licensed, the applicant must have a Master's Degree and obtain an Arkansas licensure in Adult Education within three years of employment and show progress toward certification annually. Additionally, 4- 5 years of teaching experience within a school or collegiate setting is required.
General computer skills required, as well as attention to detail, ability to organize and execute multiple tasks and responsibilities with minimal supervision. Must have a demonstrated track record of professional dependability and reliability, including punctuality and attention to detail, as well as the ability to work both without supervision and as part of a team. Must maintain up-to-date licensure and credentials, as required by the State of Arkansas.
Responsibilities :
1. Provides effective instruction for Adult Education students using state-approved best practices :
- Designs and selects classroom activities and lessons which help students progress toward skills achievement based on Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE) scores and reports.
- Counsels students monthly on their progress in the classroom, making applicable notes in the students' files and LACES, the program's student data management system.
- Participates in team teaching and planning as appropriate.
- Uses digital platforms to provide differentiation in course delivery and engagement (digital and financial literacy must be incorporated into classroom delivery and engagement).
- Maintains order and discipline in the classroom; must have classroom rules stated clearly and easily accessible.
- Protects the confidentiality of student information and records by maintaining them in a secure environment at all times.
- Communicates resource needs to the ASU Mid-South Office of Adult Education staff.
- Maintains the integrity of all classroom materials.
2. Assists in achieving Adult Education program goals and measurable objectives in support of grant guidelines and the College's mission, purposes, strategic goals, and vision statements :

Salary : $50,000; Commensurate with education, experience, and credentials.
