OrthoIndy Hospital Northwest, located in Indianapolis, Indiana,provides outpatient care and inpatient care, with 10 operating rooms, 2procedure rooms and a 42-bed inpatient unit for patients undergoing moreinvasive procedures, such as disc replacement, spinal fusion or total hip andknee joint replacement. Other services include an urgent care,clinics, pre-op clinic, imaging and physical therapy.
General Statement of Duties :
The Physical Therapy Technician provides support to the Physical Therapy Department by assisting in the set-up of treatments, clean-up, supervision and transporting of patients to and from the department.
Essential Duties :
- Participants in the supervision and implementation of therapeutic exercise routines under the supervision of the Physical Therapist and following prescribed course of exercises by the therapist.
- Responsible for the application of ice and heat as well as removal of modalities including electrical stimulation after treatment.
- Responsible for transporting patients from their patient rooms to the therapy department to receive their treatment by the Physical Therapist.
- Performs wheelchair transfers safely.
- Recognizes changes in patient status and reports to the treating Physical Therapist and / or nursing staff.
- Participates in the Therapy Department quality control internal audits.
- Responsible for organizing patient treatment times with the treating Physical Therapist.
- Responsible for organizing, stocking, and cleaning the work area.
