Job Summary
Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is seeking a full-time Physics Faculty starting August 2025. This position will teach Physics courses including introductory physics, general physics, and calculus-based physics. Both day and evening instruction may be required. The Physics Faculty will provide effective physics instruction to meet the needs of a wide range of learners in both classroom and laboratory settings. This position will be active in division and program projects and professional growth endeavors; providing leadership to adjunct faculty; using instructional technologies and incorporating active and collaborative learning techniques. Instruction modality could entail : in person, hybrid and / or online.
To best serve the students, department, and college, this position requires a physical presence on campus, with the possibility of partial remote work depending on college needs.

Essential Functions
Minimum Qualifications
A graduate degree is required. A faculty may qualify with any of the following :
Subjects
PHS, PHY
The following disciplines meet the requirements to teach in this field :
Physics or any degree under the auspices of the physics department of the granting university
Course Subjects
PHY, PHS, or IC discretion
Course Titles and Keywords
Any course containing "Physics" in its title, Physical Science, Circuits, Mechanics, Condensed Matter, Astronomy, Cosmology, Electrodynamics, Electrostatics, Fluids, Gravity, Interference, Magnetism, Material Science, Optics, Nanotechnology, Dynamics, Quantum Mechanics, Relativity, Sound, Spectroscopy, Thermodynamics, Waves, or IC discretion
Desired Qualifications
A. Masters Degree or Ph.D. in Physics
B. Three (3) or more years of full time equivalent experience teaching physics at the college level.
C. A variety of examples of working with, interacting with and instructing learners of differing backgrounds and educational needs.
D. A variety of examples of teaching, assessing, and developing curricula using best practices and / or collaborative / active learning in physics..
E. A variety of examples of using and troubleshooting probeware and instructional technology in the classroom and / or laboratory.
F. A variety of examples of teaching with different modalities - In person, Live Online, Hybrid
