Lincoln University’s Department of Education invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor for the Master’s in Special Education (SPED) program, housed at the School of Adult and Continuing Education (SACE) in Philadelphia, PA.This is a tenure-track position and may involve teaching in-person, hybrid, and remotely. The successful candidate will teach courses to graduate students, conduct research, and provide service to the University. Applicants should possess and be able to demonstrate skills, qualities and values related to positive applications of diversity, equity, and empowerment, and versed in the Culturally Relevant and Sustaining Education (CRSE) competencies. The department welcomes applications from those who will contribute to the diversity of our community and be committed to the training and preparation of transformative educators and leaders in the field of education. Qualifications : The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications :
- An earned doctorate in Special Education, or a closely related field
- Certification in Special Education
- Demonstrated commitment to, and expertise and experience in, equity and social justice oriented pedagogical approaches to teaching and advising
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching graduate courses in education
- Experience teaching online or in blended / hybrid formats using an array of learning technologies and platforms (e.g., Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard)
- Experience with collaborative program development and design
- Ability to teach the student teaching practicum course in the evening and supervise student teachers in their classrooms during the day. In addition, preferred qualifications include the following :
- Certification in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Educational Leadership, or English as a Second Language (ESL)
- Experience in mentoring graduate students from historically marginalized communities.
- Deep understanding of theoretical frameworks related to power, privilege, equity, and social justice
- Strong record of research and scholarship in the field of education Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Teach graduate courses in the Masters of Education program
- Conduct scholarship activities
- Serve on faculty committees
- Advise and mentor students
- Assess course and program outcomes
- Participate in course / program assessment activities
