We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) part of the US Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless and Bell's High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next-generation stop-fold aircraft.
This position is onsite in Fort Worth.
Bell is seeking an experienced Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Test Pilot to join Bell’s Innovation Team and support the design, development, and demonstration of new and novel products and platforms. Incumbent will plan, execute, and report on experimental flight tests of large unmanned systems and travel in support of flight test and demonstration operations, as required. Incumbent will participate in and / or lead test planning, flight evaluations, flight test analysis, and flight test reporting. Incumbent will demonstrate large UAS configurations and technologies leading to integration in the NAS and the United States Military, shaping the future of vertical lift aviation. This position will be part of a diverse team of professionals capable of executing in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Pilot-In-Command (PIC) and / or Ground Station Operator (GSO) of unmanned aircraft during ground and flight tests and demonstrations.
- Plan, execute and report on engineering and experimental test flights of new aircraft and / or systems.
- Lead coordination of NOTAMS, test / demo site preparation and approvals, and additional clearances / approvals as required.
- Demonstrate safe, effective, and efficient test planning and execution, applying crew resource management principles with test crew, telemetry engineers, ATC, chase / photo aircraft, etc.
- Make recommendations as to operational effectiveness of systems, aircraft handling qualities, and design improvements.
- Accurately keep pilot log and aircraft maintenance and configuration log.
- Be a positive and constructive member of the test team and project teams as assigned to maximize unity of effort and ensure successful accomplishment of program goals.
- Serve as a consultant to management and as an external spokesman for Bell on major matters and programs.
- Perform additional tasks and acquire varying responsibilities as appropriate.
