Abernethy Contracting is looking for a Pipe Foreman to join our team in the Charlotte area. If you have experience as a Pipe Foreman, take safety seriously and can adapt to a changing work site, this is right up your alley. The ideal candidate will enjoy leading, solving problems, working as part of a team and working towards a common goal. RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee crew performing site work.
Read and understand project plans and specifications.
Communicate construction needs --material, equipment, and staffing in a timely manner to Superintendent to prevent delays.
Inspect work areas throughout construction process to ensure the quality and accuracy of work meets specifications and that crew meets productivity goals.
Monitor and ensure that crew follows safety policies and procedures.
Complete required reports (JHA, production, personnel time and attendance, vehicle, safety, inspection) on a daily basis.
Oversee development and cross training of crew.
Responsible for daily inspection of equipment and reporting of downed machinery to Superintendent.
Recommend and implement measures to improve production methods and equipment performance to improve efficiency.
Demonstrate Abernethy Contracting’s core values.
REQUIREMENTS Minimum 2 years of experience as a utility/pipe foreman.
Proficient in main dig excavator and mini excavator.
Sense of urgency and ability to respond to changing situations is a must.
Ability to adapt, prioritize and complete projects in a changing construction environment.
Ability to read drawings, plans, and blueprints and convey this information to others is a must.
Ability to shoot grade and calculate slope percentages.
Ability to communicate problems with solutions regarding any utility work and any scope.
Ability to use technology, including iPad.
Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Commitment to safe work practices.
Ability to work overtime as needed.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are a must.
Have the ability to travel within 60-75 miles of the greater Charlotte Metro Area.
Must pass a pre-employment background screening.
