Installs, modifies, inspects and tests all types of water-based fire suppression systems and associated equipment.
Fabricates, installs, modifies and repairs associated piping systems.
Installs and repairs flow control valves, fire pumps and sprinkler devices.
Performs all installation, maintenance and inspection in accordance with applicable standards and requirements of the National Fire Protection Association, Life Safety Code (Massachusetts State Building Code) and / or established compliance requirements of the Authority Having Jurisdiction.
Interprets and updates mechanical plans, drawings and prints as necessary.
Required to assist in the inspection and testing of other fire safety systems including fire alarms, extinguishers, fire escapes, and hydrants.
Provides responsive customer support in all phases of building maintenance and operations.
Assists and advises customers on fire suppression system solutions and provides follow-up on progress and status of work.
Performs other core skills of the trades and related duties as required.
May be assigned to work independently or as part of a multi-trade team under the guidance and direction of the Area Supervisor and / or Working Foreperson.
Must observe and comply with all standard safety codes and practices and perform work in accordance with recognized trade and University standards.
