Job Description
Job Description
The Pipe Welder is responsible for welding, assembling, and maintaining piping systems in industrial, commercial, or construction environments. This role requires expertise in various welding techniques to ensure the integrity and safety of pipes used for transporting liquids and gases. Must have Shipyard, and Marine experience.
Key Responsibilities
Welding and Fabrication :
Perform welding tasks using techniques such as TIG, MIG, stick, and arc welding to join pipes.
Cut, shape, and prepare pipes to meet design specifications.
Assemble piping systems based on blueprints and technical drawings.
Inspection and Testing :
Inspect completed welds to ensure quality and compliance with standards.
Conduct pressure tests or other evaluations to verify the integrity of piping systems.
Blueprint Interpretation :
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols to determine project requirements.
Ensure proper alignment and fit-up of pipes during assembly.
Maintenance and Repairs :
Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and tools.
Repair damaged or defective piping systems as needed.
Safety and Compliance :
Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Comply with industry codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASME, API).
Qualifications and Requirements
Education and Experience :
High school diploma or equivalent.
Certification in welding or pipe welding from a recognized program.
Previous experience as a pipe welder in industrial or construction environments preferred.
Skills :
Proficient in various welding techniques and tools.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
Familiarity with industry codes and standards for pipe welding.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift and move heavy materials up to [insert weight limit] pounds.
Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, or in varying environmental conditions.
Ability to stand, bend, and work for extended periods.
Work Environment
This role involves working in industrial, construction, or workshop settings. The Pipe Welder may be exposed to noise, heat, and hazardous materials. Safety measures must always be observed.
