Read, interpret and understand architectural, mechanical and electrical plans and specifications. Read, understand, and implement operational manuals of the plants. Travel short distances in own vehicle during the workday. Work cooperatively in a team environment to meet goals Organize and perform work independently Work on multiple projects while meeting all deadlines Show sustained effort and enthusiasm in quality and quantity of work Work environment is indoors and outdoors with regular exposure to weather conditions; in proximity to moving mechanical parts and electrical equipment; and in confined spaces. The work is medium work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The employee is exposed to fumes, dirt / dust, gases, and the risk of electric shock. GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the supervision of the Physical Plants Manager, this position performs position performs urgent HVAC repair calls, diagnosing and resolving issues, and ensuring that all systems operate efficiently and effectively.
MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reactive HVAC Technician
- Respond promptly to emergency service calls for HVAC systems
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing commercial HVAC equipment such as split systems, packaged units, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, valves, expansion tanks, and pumps
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing commercial kitchen equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, steamers, dishwashers, ovens and hood systems
- Perform troubleshooting and repairs on HVAC control systems
- Perform thorough inspections and testing of HVAC equipment to identify problems
- Communicate effectively with clients to explain issues, provide
recommendations, and ensure understanding of the repair process
