Position Overview. The Financial Analyst plays a critical role in supporting financial planning and analysis by managing reporting processes, conducting in-depth financial analysis, and working closely with operations to drive business decisions. This position requires someone who can quickly take ownership of responsibilities, support budgeting efforts, provide financial insights, and drive process improvements. The ideal candidate has prior experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting, with minimal training required. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work cross-functionally with teams across Black Rock Coffee Bar.

Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities . Success in this role requires a deep understanding of financial reporting, forecasting, and data-driven decision-making. The Financial Analyst will collaborate closely with leadership to enhance financial insights and improve decision-making. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Creates monthly Budget vs. Actual reports for the Operations team.
  • Assists in the bottoms-up budget build process.
  • Evaluates and suggests updates to budget methodology to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Partners with Operations leadership to investigate financial performance and answer key business questions.
  • Provides strategic financial recommendations to optimize profitability.
  • Standardizes, simplifies, and improves financial reporting procedures.
  • Analyzes large datasets to extract meaningful insights and builds actionable financial recommendations.
  • Leads meetings with Operations Leaders to present findings and answer financial inquiries.
  • Identifies efficiencies in financial reporting and budgeting processes.
  • Works cross-functionally with other departments to support financial projects and ad hoc assignments.
  • Suggests and implements improvements to financial systems and methodologies to streamline reporting.
  • Communicates financial insights and recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned by Black Rock Coffee Bar.

You will exhibit a proactive drive for improvement, constantly seeking learning opportunities and effectively applying lessons learned through reflection, adjustment, and continuous improvement efforts.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements. This role primarily operates in an office environment (onsite or remote) with approximately 15% travel required for meetings, events, and engagement cross-functionally. The essential duties of this role require the ability to perform the following physical tasks :

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for meetings, presentations, and correspondence.
  • Ability to attend, lead, and actively participate in meetings, events, and presentations.
  • Mobility to navigate office spaces and external worksites as necessary.
  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and complete essential job functions.
  • Visual acuity to review and analyze reports, documents, and data.
  • Auditory ability to engage in discussions and meetings effectively.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 15 pounds.
  • Travel required, including via aircraft and motor vehicle, to support business needs.
  • Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of accounting or Corporate Finance experience.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP principles & how these principles impact financial statements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (i.e., NetSuite, Oracle, SAP) and Excel.
  • Experience with Planful is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively communicate with cross-functional teams.
