  • FTE : 0.9 (12-hour shifts)
  • Rotation : 2 Mondays & 2 Fridays per 6-week schedule, 1 Weekend per 6-week schedule, and 2 Holidays (1 Summer & 1 Winter)
  • RNs will be trained in ACLS, NIH, IV Ultrasound, with cross-training to be a Charge RN
  • Float Pool Role - ED Boarding, Med / Surg, ICU - Night Shift

  • Location : Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI
  • Shift : 3rd Shift : 7 : 00 PM - 7 : 00 AM

  • Why Join Our Internal Float Pool? If you are seeking a night shift role that provides variety, challenge, and growth, consider our Internal Float Pool. You will rotate between ED Boarding, Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, and ICU support units at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, gaining new experiences and expanding your clinical skills with every shift.

    What You'll Do :

  • Float between Med / Surg, Telemetry, ED Boarding, and ICU support units
  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Adapt quickly to different unit workflows while maintaining clinical excellence
  • What We're Looking For :

  • Experience : Minimum 18 months of Med / Surg or Telemetry RN experience (2 years preferred)
  • Flexibility : Must meet the following schedule requirements per 6-week cycle :
  • 2 Fridays
  • 2 Mondays
  • 1 Weekend
  • Training & Skills :

  • RNs receive training in :
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • NIHSS (Stroke Scale)
  • IV Ultrasound
  • Charge Nurse cross-training to support multiple units and enhance leadership skills

    Your primary responsibility will be to provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care by utilizing the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care, aligning with established standards and protocols. You will incorporate evidence-based practices and lead efforts in creating a safe environment and exceptional patient experiences.

    Responsibilities include :

  • Using the nursing process to assess patients, plan interventions, and evaluate the effectiveness of care.
  • Involving patients and families in care planning to maintain a therapeutic relationship.
  • Anticipating significant changes in patient conditions and proactively intervening as needed.
  • Implementing strategies to enhance patient safety and mitigate risks.
  • Providing ongoing evaluation of patient and team outcomes, taking action when changes are required.
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance department functions and patient care experiences.
  • Demonstrating effective communication and collaboration within the healthcare team.
  • Licenses & Certifications : A Registered Nurse license issued by the respective state and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) are required.

    Degrees : Completion of an accredited or approved program in Nursing is expected.

    Required Functional Experience : Typically requires one year of experience in clinical nursing.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Proficiency in holistic patient care, situational awareness for timely interventions, and strong communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with others, make autonomous critical decisions, and manage time efficiently in a frequently interrupted environment. Skills in coordination, delegation, and team building are necessary.

    Team members will maintain annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications (e.g. DNV, CARF, etc.).
