Position Summary
Dr. Anne Nigra's lab in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable candidate to join our team as a Research Worker (or, depending on experience, as a Senior Research Worker). Dr. Nigra's team conducts justice-oriented research on US drinking water epidemiology, metal exposures, chronic disease, and maternal and infant health, leveraging collaborations with several large NIH-funded cohorts. The hire will support research studies in these and related areas. The hire will conduct data analysis, data interpretation and report writing for analyses of drinking water exposures and health outcomes in large cohorts (regular reports, tables, figures, data management and others as needed for manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations).
Responsibilities
- Data management and analysis in R.
- Assist with and review presentations, manuscripts, tables and graphs for accuracy and quality.
- Review literature and interpret findings.
- Report writing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master's degree and at least one (1) year of experience, or a Bachelor's degree and at least three (3) years of related experience or
- A master's-level degree in biostatistics, data science, environmental health sciences, epidemiology, or a related field.
- Proficiency in R and prior experience conducing research related to environmental epidemiology, spatial epidemiology, social epidemiology, environmental health sciences, or biostatistics.
- Prior experience in full-time research intersecting epidemiology, biostatistical modeling, and environmental health sciences is preferred.
- Preference will be given to an individual with specific research experience in longitudinal modeling, mixtures modeling, and other advanced statistical methods for epidemiologic research.
- Ability to prioritize work assignments, proactively identify problems, and work independently with minimal oversight.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate professionally with colleagues across departments and institutions.
