Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Power-Only Carrier Sales / Capacity Lead to help build, optimize, and scale a growing power-only transportation operation.

This is a strategic, hands-on opportunity for an experienced transportation professional who has already built, managed, or optimized power-only carrier capacity networks. The ideal candidate will bring proven expertise in carrier development, capacity strategy, network optimization, and freight-to-capacity matching.

This is not simply a traditional Carrier Sales Representative position. The company is looking for a senior-level professional who can bring a more sophisticated approach to developing and managing a power-only network.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and expand the company's power-only carrier network.
• Build strong, loyal, and dependable carrier relationships to create consistent capacity.
• Optimize the utilization of an approximately 3,500-trailer network.
• Identify which freight opportunities are the best fit for the existing trailer and carrier network.
• Develop strategies to improve capacity utilization and network efficiency.
• Negotiate competitive carrier rates while maintaining strong margins.
• Match customer freight with the appropriate power-only capacity.
• Coordinate and optimize the relationship between brokerage and asset-based transportation networks.
• Identify opportunities to leverage the power-only network to support new business development.
• Develop repeatable processes for sourcing, retaining, and deploying power-only capacity.
• Analyze lanes, freight characteristics, carrier capabilities, and network requirements to make strategic capacity decisions.
• Help establish best practices around carrier recruitment, onboarding, utilization, and retention.
• Work cross-functionally with sales, operations, brokerage, and asset teams.
• Serve as a subject-matter expert and resource for Carrier Sales personnel developing within the power-only operation.
• Provide leadership and strategic direction as the power-only operation continues to scale.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in power-only transportation and should have a track record of building or optimizing carrier capacity rather than simply covering individual loads.

• Demonstrated experience specifically with power-only transportation.
• Proven history of building, managing, or optimizing carrier networks.
• Strong understanding of trailer utilization and capacity planning.
• Strong carrier relationships and negotiation skills.
• Ability to analyze freight and determine the most efficient capacity solution.
• Experience working with both brokerage and asset-based transportation environments preferred.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of a developing operation.
• Leadership or mentoring experience preferred.
