Summary
This position is for a Licensed Practical Nurse, located in the Primary Care Service at the VA Bedford Healthcare System in Gloucester, MA. This position is full-time at 40 hours per week.
This position serves as a Licensed Practical Nurse for primary care. The incumbent may serve in a medical center, community-based outpatient clinic (CBOC), mobile medical unit or may have virtual / remote assignments, floating to other clinics as needed.

Duties
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

Basic Requirements :
GRADE DETERMINATIONS : In addition to the basic requirements for employment, the following criteria must be met when determining the grade of candidates.
GS-3 Grade Level : None beyond the basic requirements.
GS-4 Grade Level :Six months of experience as an Licensed Practical Nurse
GS-5 Grade Level :
AND,
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to provide a full range of practical nursing care to patients with a variety of physical and / or behavioral problems.
GS-6 Grade Level :
AND,
Technically proficient in initiating, performing and completing assigned duties in providing care to variable patient populations.
The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-6. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is in the range of GS-3 to GS-6.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative / invasive procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be flexible and sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. Must complete Employee Health requirements.
May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria).
