Description
The Connecticut House Republican Office is seeking a Press Secretary to join its communications department and assist with daily operations. Some in-state travel will be required.
Examples of Duties
Responsibilities include writing press releases e-newsletters and maintaining social media outlets; designing direct mail; monitoring the legislative process; pitching ways to communicate to various constituencies; providing coverage for in-district events; monitoring daily news items; communicating with the news media; updating legislator websites; and other daily duties working directly with state legislators.
Typical Qualifications
Ideal candidates are strong communicators both written and verbally detail oriented and can quickly identify and summarize key legislative policy issues. Must have the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines work well in a team environment and demonstrate strong presentation skills. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign Photoshop Premiere) software and email marketing platforms. Experience in photography is a plus. A background or interest in government and politics is preferred.
