JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE : SASED Central School Principal
QUALIFICATIONS :
The Special Education Administrator will hold a Type 75 General Administrative Certificate with hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator License with an issued LBS1 endorsement.
Endorsement of Director of Special Education is preferred but not required.
Must have valid driver's license and access to a reliable, insured vehicle to drive between Member Districts or have other reliable means of transportation to drive between the Member Districts.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS :
1. Supervises and coordinates all SASED Central programs and staff assigned to the
program.
2. Directs and implementation of management / personnel policies, procedures, rules
and practices within designated area of responsibility.
3. Maintains cooperative working relationship with Member District building
administrators, staff, parents, and community service agencies through continuous
collaboration.
REPORTS TO : Director of Special Education
RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Implement professional responsibilities.
2. Implement and comply to SASED policies and procedures.
3. Adhere to established regulations, rules and laws.
4. Submit accurate reports for State or SASED.
5. Demonstrate professional ethics.
6. Maintain confidentiality.
7. Cooperate with other personnel to achieve goals.
8. Adhere to generally accepted standards of ethical behavior.
9. Evidence commitment to both SASED needs and SASED Central specific program
needs.
10. Provide supervision and leadership of program personnel within designated area of
responsibility.
11. Observe and evaluate program personnel.
12. Screen, interview and select staff for employment for SASED Central School.
13. Assign and schedule staffs duties / assignments.
14. Recommend corrective or disciplinary actions concerning assigned staff's job
performance.
15. Recommend dismissal or continued employment of assigned staff.
16. Assist in updating and maintain personnel files on assigned staff.
17. Facilitate and implement faculty meetings, Case Review Teams, Program Team
Meetings and trainings.
18. Evaluate paraprofessionals and certified special education staff as required by state
and SASED procedures.
19. Provide written evaluations of certified special education staff and paraprofessionals
to the Director of Special Education.
20. Delegate responsibilities to others in accordance of their skills.
21. Assist in the development of individual performance improvement plans.
22. Ascertain staff development needs through needs assessment inventories.
23. Implementation of staff development activities (presenting, selection of
topic / presenter / materials / meeting dates / estimation of cost).
24. Provide staff with information pertaining to available resources and / or activities.
25. Provide supervision and leadership in developing a comprehensive program for
students attending SASED Central.
26. Identify needs and develop implementation plan based on objectives and strategies.
27. Ongoing assessment of programming for students attending SASED Central.
28. Monitor, analyze students' annual progress and provide long-range planning.
29. Plan and facilitate various programs designed to achieve the educational objectives
of the School and the Individual Educational Programs for each student.
30. Make affective use of research data to assess program and implement new
changes.
31. Recommends changes, improvements and implementation of curriculum from the
Director of Special Education or Board of Directors.
32. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the screening, referral, case study,
annual review, and conference processes and complete components as designated.
33. Manage, safeguard and maintain accurate student records for each student
i.e. IEPs, parent contacts, progress reports, report cards, health records).
34. Serve as a liaison between school districts and community as well as local, state
and federal agencies.
35. Provide consultation to Member District administration.
36. Represent SASED on appropriate committees.
37. Work with schools, parents and community personnel to accomplish joint
agreements (i.e. DCFS, Probation Officers, Mental Health Staff, therapists).
38. Participate in required and individual professional growth activities as required.
39. Participate in professional meetings, workshops, and conferences.
40. Seek performance feedback.
41. Serve on committees and panels.
42. Serve as consultant to other groups.
43. Complete state required Professional Development trainings / meetings to maintain
certification / license.
44. Assist in the fiscal management of SASED Central programs and student activity
account.
45. Monitor budget of assigned special education classes and programs.
46. Adhere to policy, procedures and regulations for handling funds.
47. Plan for expenditures in terms of short and long range needs.
48. Monitor and approve expenditures of student activity funds.
49. Requisition and maintain instructional materials and supplies and inventories as
required.
50. Demonstrate the ability to use technology globally.
51. Perform such other duties and additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director
of Special Education.

All SASED Central School professional staff and paraprofessionals.
