Basic Function

HF Sinclair is seeking a Process Safety Engineer in El Dorado,KS who will be responsible for for the development, implementation, execution, and monitoring of key Process Safety programs and systems for HF Sinclair. This role supports safe, reliable, and profitable refinery operations by ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, corporate standards, and recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices (RAGAGEP).

Job Duties

• Provide day-to-day Process Safety support to refinery operations and engineering teams
• Serve as the refinery Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) Technical Authority
• Perform and maintain monthly performance metric reporting for Process Safety programs and systems
• Provide technical guidance, training, and presentations on developing and evolving Process Safety initiatives
• Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and program owner for the following Process Safety programs and systems :

Pressure Safety Valve (PSV) and Flare Management

Experience

Education Level

A minimum of a bachelor’s engineering degree is required.

Work Conditions

Office and plant based with up to 20% travel by land and air required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse / plant environment, and out-of-doors environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, wet and / or oil contaminated conditions, at both below grade and elevated positions, and working in confined spaces. Subject to all temperatures, weather and varying road conditions.

Physical Requirements

Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, lifting and / or carrying up to 50 lbs, climbing up to 200 ft, perceiving color differences,  required to wear personal protective equipment as needed and a respirator in emergency situations (beards not permitted). Job conditions may require twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping.
