Who are we?
Alaska Village Electric Cooperative (AVEC) is a unique electric generation and distribution cooperative, serving 59 communities across Alaska. Our operation spans 46 small, isolated grids relying on a mix of diesel, wind, and solar generation to power 11,513 meters and maintain 515 miles of distribution line.
Your role as a Procurement Specialist
As a Procurement Specialist at Alaska Village Electric Cooperative, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless operations by acting as the crucial link between vendors, purchase requestors, and warehouse staff. This position involves coordinating with various departments to guarantee that products and services are readily available when required. You will support purchasing activities at designated offsite locations, transact purchases for construction-related goods and services, and assist in managing the repair and replacement of Cooperative property, fleet, and equipment. Your expertise in procurement techniques and contract negotiation will be essential as you provide inventory support, monitor the status of purchase orders and deliveries, and facilitate the acceptance of receiving documentation from all AVEC villages.
Additionally, you will notify warehouse staff for system updates, reconcile invoices for accounts payable, and maintain an organized purchasing file management system to ensure operational efficiency.
What you need to be successful
To excel as a Procurement Specialist at Alaska Village Electric Cooperative, a diverse skill set is essential. You must demonstrate excellent customer service abilities, ensuring positive interactions with both vendors and internal stakeholders.
