The Director of Production and Special Programs must be a creative visionary who can champion production processes and practices ensuring the seamless execution and daily operation of WFAA's programs including newscasts, Good Morning Texas, and other special programs. This role will oversee WFAA's production staff of broadcast directors and studio crew. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of broadcast production, exceptional organizational abilities, and the ability to drive high-quality content that resonates with audiences.
Responsibilities :
Leadership and Management :
- Oversight, coaching, and mentoring production staff of broadcast directors and studio crew, as well as GMT team, producers, directors, photographer / editors and other staff.
- Foster a collaborative and positive working environment, encouraging innovation and creative input from all team members.
- Conduct regular team meetings to review progress, address challenges, and ensure alignment with the station's vision and goals
- Mentor to help provide guidance and support to team members, helping them develop their skills and advance in their careers.
- Offer constructive feedback and performance reviews, identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for professional growth
- Create and implement training programs or workshops to enhance the team's technical and creative abilities.
- Manage the department's budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining production quality.
