We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Corporate Controller to join our rapidly growing Series A startup focused on thermochemical energy storage systems. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on financial leader with experience in and capable of building and scaling our accounting function from the ground up. The Corporate Controller will be expected to articulate OKRs for the function and demonstrate the ability to lead a team to achieve metrics-oriented results. Strong preference for San Diego headquartered based candidates with a willingness to consider extremely strong remote / hybrid candidates.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting operations, including billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
- Redesign and implement a new chart of accounts to support our growing business needs
- Lead the migration from QuickBooks to a more robust GL system, ensuring a smooth transition and data integrity
- Develop and implement accounting processes, policies, and controls suitable for a fast-paced startup environment
- Build and manage a high-performing accounting team as the company scales
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and forecasts for management and investors
- Manage inventory accounting, including costing, valuation, and reconciliation
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and other relevant standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making
- Optimize financial operations to support the company’s growth and strategic objectives
