UC Irvine's Department of Surgery faculty members have expertise in multiple complex diseases and are integrated to subspecialties including cancer, gastrointestinal disease, vascular diseases cardiovascular diseases, hepatobiliary disease, trauma and surgical critical care.
Your Role on the Team
Under the supervision of the Education Manager and Director of Education, the Project Coordinator organizes the UCI Department of surgery skills curriculum for medical students, general surgery residents, and surgical fellows. Assists in the design and execution of surgery and education research projects and coordinate animal and cadaver lab training sessions for educational programs focusing on robotic training, certification, laparoscopic and open surgical techniques, and endoscopic approaches for the treatment of surgical disease. Facilitates laparoscopic practice and skills development and is responsible for proctoring Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Skills exam for test center. Responsible for oversight of the trainees' use of the UCI Surgical Education Center (SEC) and Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Skills test center in Orange and UCI Medical Education Simulation Center (MedEd) in Irvine. Coordinates and implements all administrative and lab activities necessary to create above educational programs. Coordinates program operations, which include teaching and learning activities, program curriculum, learner scheduling, maintaining databases, tracking learner compliance, and program accreditation. This position necessitates strong, independent judgment, problem-solving and organizational skills. A demonstrated proficiency in the independent preparation, transcription and updating of curriculum and projects, as well as coordinating the weekly activates is required.

- Knowledge of budgeting and ability to maintain financial records.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated prior related research lab experience with demonstrated independent responsibilities and activities.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize a complex and dynamic workload.
- 1-3 years of demonstrated prior related clinical and laboratory research experience with demonstrated independent responsibilities and activities. BA / BS degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of study design and clinical research.
