Job description

Description Your role at GEI. We are seeking an experienced geotechnical engineer to be a leader in our Woburn, Massachusetts (Boston) office and mentor junior staff. Our work includes dam / levee, transportation, building, waterfront, trenchless technology, and contractor support projects. The successful candidate will exhibit a combination of technical and managerial skills in the field of geotechnical engineering, as well as strong interpersonal skills, and experience working with contractors and government agencies.

The following information provides an overview of the skills, qualities, and qualifications needed for this role.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Exemplify commitment to technical excellence balanced with client-expectations and satisfaction.
  • Serve as a technical leader and mentor.
  • Manage the technical, financial, and client relationship aspects of geotechnical projects.
  • Serve as a role model of leadership, company culture, and values.
  • Prepare proposals for professional services and develop new business in areas of specialty geotechnical services.
  • Contribute to strategic planning at the office and regional level.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering; Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering a plus.
  • Registered Professional Engineer.
  • Experience working on interdisciplinary design teams with the ability to be conversant in a variety of technical fields (e.g., environmental, civil, and structural engineering).
  • 12+ years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel on short-term assignments as needed.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
