DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs substantially complex and varied administrative functions in the direction and
coordination of programs and procedures in the assigned department.
1. Supervise, train, evaluate and provide guidance for the Accounts Payable team responsible for invoice processing.
2. Ensure that accounting entries, adjustments, and totals are prepared accurately and recorded in accordance with federal, state and city guidelines and regulations.
3. Research and respond to external and internal customer inquiries regarding payment of invoices and payment of employee reimbursements.
4. Review, prepare, correct, and approves payment documents and ensure compliance with established procedures.
5. Develop and implements goals, policies, and priorities related to financial management and accounting.
6. Respond to audit requests, maintain control records, and prepare reports and record as requested.
7. Monitor SAP Ariba daily for parked invoices to release for payment processing.
8. Prepare, review and submit monthly reports by the established deadlines.
9. Perform other Accounts Payable-related duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions. The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field such as Finance, with a minimum of 18 hours in accounting.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Five years of experience as a professional accountant are required.
Professional accounting experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis, except for the required minimum of 18 hours in Accounting. A Master's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field, such as Finance, may substitute for two years of the experience requirement.

Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
