Primary Purpose :
Provide psychological services to support the academic social behavioral and emotional success of students. Conduct evaluations collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in the development and implementation of educational and behavioral interventions. Serve as the campus / district expert in psychoeducational assessment and data-based decision-making.
Qualifications :
Education / Certification :
Masters or doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited institution
Valid Texas license as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) issued by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologist
Special Knowledge / Skills :
Strong knowledge of child and adolescent development
Expertise in psychoeducational assessment tools and interpretation
Understanding of Response to Intervention (RtI) Section 504 and IDEA
Ability to communicate effectively with parents teachers and administrators
Skills in counseling consultation and crisis intervention
Experience :
Experience working in public school settings (preferred)
Internship or prior work as a school psychologist or LSSP
Major Responsibilities and Duties :
Assessment and Evaluation
Conduct comprehensive psychological and educational evaluations of students referred for special education services.
Interpret assessment results and communicate findings through clear legally compliant written reports.
Participate in Admission Review and Dismissal (ARD) meetings and provide input on eligibility and services.
Consultation and Collaboration
Consult with teachers parents administrators and other professionals to enhance student learning and mental health.
Assist school staff with behavior management strategies and classroom interventions.
Provide input on functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
Intervention and Counseling
Provide individual or group counseling for students as needed.
Support crisis response efforts including suicide risk assessments and postvention services.
Collaborate with outside agencies and mental health providers as appropriate.
Compliance and Documentation
Maintain accurate records and ensure all documentation is completed in compliance with district state and federal requirements.
Adhere to timelines for evaluations and ARD processes.
Stay current on changes in special education law and best practices in psychological services.
