Summary :
Primary Function : The primary purpose of this position is to receive and review requests for Criminal History Information; including Law Enforcement Agencies Data System (LEADS) searches for the Office of the Inspector General (OIG), Department of Children and Family Services. This position is fully funded by and reports to the Public Service Administrator of the Criminal History Request Unit at the OIG, DCFS. This is a part-time (50% FTE / 20 hours per week) position. Functional Summary : As a member of the University and DCFS Office of the Inspector General, receives and reviews requests for Criminal History Information, including Law Enforcement Agencies Data System (LEADS) searches for the Office of the Inspector General (OIG), Department of Children and Family Services.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Receives and reviews requests for Criminal History Information, including Law Enforcement Agencies Data System (LEADS) searches; confirms information contained within the request to ensure compliance with OIG standards.
- Conducts and analyzes criminal history background checks for out of state requests and converts search information for feedback to the field.
- Produces the criminal history background check report and delivers information to the field.
- Reviews and tracks information in compliance with Illinois State Police and federal regulations, and DCFS administrative procedure number 6.
- Maintains and tracks all criminal history information requests and results for the OIG Annual Report.
- May perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor and management.
Minimum Qualifications :
1. Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, social work, or a related field.
Specialty Factors :
2. At least four (4) years of professional experience gathering, reviewing, and / or analyzing data in the field of criminal justice, social work or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications :
Prior experience accessing Law Enforcement Agency Data System.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Ability to understand and audit complex detailed information related to law enforcement systems.

Travel Requirements :
10% General office environment housed at the Office of the Inspector General, Chicago, IL. Regular travel not expected but may occur occasionally around previously scheduled events.
