Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit :

The Department of Psychology consists of 28 full-time faculty and offers a BA and BS in psychology, an MA in General Experimental Psychology, and the Ph.D. in developmental, clinical, cognitive, and social psychology (See https : / / psy.uncg.edu / for more information).

Position Summary :

The Department of Psychology at UNC-Greensboro invites applications for a tenure-track position in Clinical Psychology (Assistant Professor level), to begin August 1, 2026. The Department of Psychology consists of 28 full-time faculty and offers a BA and BS in psychology, including Disciplinary Honors, an MA in experimental psychology, and a PhD in clinical, cognitive, developmental, and social psychology (See http : / / psy.uncg.edu for more information).

Our department is home to the UNCG Psychology Clinic ( https : / / psy.uncg.edu / clinic / ), our doctoral training clinic that provides mental health services to the broader community, with a focus on providing empirically supported treatments to underserved populations in a culturally competent manner. UNCG’s clinical program emphasizes the integration of science and practice, values both basic and applied research on human behavior across the life span, and encourages collaboration across research areas. The doctoral program in Clinical Psychology is accredited by the American Psychological Association.

UNCG serves a diverse student body, with ethnic minority students representing 45% of undergraduates. We seek to attract a broad pool of qualified applicants for this position. UNCG and the Psychology Department foster an environment of collaboration across departments and schools and support community-engaged research. UNCG is located in an affordable metropolitan area of more than 1.6 million in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Appalachian mountains.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Applicants must hold or anticipate a doctoral degree by August 1, 2026 from an APA-accredited clinical program and be licensed or license-eligible in North Carolina.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • We welcome applications from any area of child / adolescent clinical psychology. All applicants should show evidence of a strong independent research program, a commitment to working with students from diverse backgrounds, and excellence in graduate and undergraduate teaching and practicum supervision.
  • We are particularly interested in researchers who would broaden existing departmental strengths by adding expertise in areas such as pediatric health psychology, autism spectrum disorders, and childhood trauma.
  • We also welcome applicants outside of these areas.
