Summary :
Leads a team of Behavioral Health Care Managers (BHCM), who specialize in helping families adjust to acute and ongoing stressors, providing psychiatric, psychological and biopsychosocial support for the pediatricians within CHPG and specialty clinics, as well as the clinically integrated network and indigent clinics in our community. This position supports the Director by functioning as the primary daily contact for the team of behavioral health care managers for clinical and administrative needs, assisting with team meetings, representing the Behavioral Health Care Management Department at internal meetings and providing input to employment decisions and performance management. This position maintains a professional BHCM caseload of approximately 50% to allow time for guidance, coaching and support to the team and the director.
Responsibilities :
- Provides clinical consultation and guidance to team of behavioral health care managers. This includes on-call consultation for clinically urgent situations as well as facilitating team's case discussion and rounds
- Motivates team members to assure results meet all goals while maintaining positive team morale and cohesiveness
- Assists the Director in reviewing program effectiveness and developing new clinical interventions
- Conducts audits of team members' work including telephone and record reviews; compiles data and provides analysis of results
- Works with the director to review program outcomes, prepare analyses, reports and presentations to communicate program effectiveness and develops action plans for program improvement
- Serves as an ambassador for the program participating in marketing activities and community events / presentations
- Provides immediate in person or telephonic assessment of children identified as in need of BH services; diagnose and develop treatment plans for full array of BH disorders and sub-clinical symptoms; provide treatment interventions and short term counseling to children and families
- Performs behavioral health evaluations on children, adolescents and families for mental, emotional and behavioral disorders with special emphasis on safety and risk of suicide to provide appropriate interventions grounded in evidence based practice
- Provides ongoing in person and telephonic support to children and families to assure treatment goals are met
- Utilizes the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) in assessment, diagnosis and treatment of behavioral / mental health patients
- Develops and facilitates professional education on behavioral and mental health issues for behavioral health team
- Effectively communicates with pediatric partners keeping them up to date on treatment plans and progress, and providing training as needed on identification of behavioral health issues
- Develops and provides specific programming based on trends and issues identified by the clinical team
- Develops strong partnership with pediatricians and functions as their BH expert, providing consultation and support on all BH issues by applying specialized advanced clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis and treatment of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders, conditions and addictions including serious emotional disturbances in children
- Responsible for child maltreatment evaluation and referral, trauma and safety assessments
- Submit to and pass external background check processes as required per vendor or funder requirements.
