Position :
The Department of Psychology at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is seeking a tenure-track faculty member in the area of Quantitative Psychology or a closely related field, at the rank of Assistant Professor.
The successful candidate will teach upper-division statistics and research methods courses in our undergraduate program, as well as graduate-level statistics courses in our Clinical Psychology and Psychological Science MA programs. Course topics may include areas of quantitative psychology (., univariate and multivariate statistics, latent variable models) and / or data science (., machine learning and AI, Bayesian methods, predictive analytics). In addition, all faculty members are expected to conduct research in the subdiscipline of their expertise (., quantitative, data science, clinical, social, cognitive, developmental, or diversity science) and involve undergraduate and / or graduate students in their research.
Applicants are expected to understand and serve the needs of a diverse student body and must clearly demonstrate their contributions to equity, diversity, and justice through teaching, mentoring, research, and / or service that fosters an equitable and inclusive scholarly environment.
In addition to teaching, the position requires weekly office hours, attending faculty meetings, developing curriculum, participation in assessment of student learning, and service to the department, college, and university. The successful candidate may be required to teach on weekdays, evenings, weekends, and / or online and will be held to the standards and requirements of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences and the Department of Psychology recommending tenure and promotion. Required Qualifications :
- PhD in Psychology or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Degree must be awarded by date of appointment.
- Evidence of, or clear potential for, excellence in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in our curriculum, including statistics and research methods courses.
- Evidence of, or clear potential for, excellence in research in a core area of psychology (., quantitative, data science, clinical, social, cognitive, developmental, or diversity science) that is aligned with department curriculum.
- Evidence of, or clear potential for, working with the pedagogical needs of a diverse student population, which includes commitment to teaching and enhancing the learning environment of students from diverse and marginalized backgrounds.
- Commitment to and clear potential for inclusively mentoring diverse and underrepresented undergraduate and graduate students.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience in, or demonstrated potential for : Creating a student-centered and active learning environment.
Using culturally responsive pedagogy that advances equitable outcomes for all students.
Participating in professional development opportunities and / or service activities, particularly those that build effectiveness in advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and intercultural communication.
A record of research contributions within the candidate’s specialty area that incorporate advanced quantitative methods.
A clear potential research program that can be successfully accomplished as a faculty member at CSUN while including undergraduate and / or graduate students.
