Job Description

This posting establishes and maintains a pool of part-time lecturers with experience teaching graduate courses in the School Psychology Program in the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Colorado Denver. By submitting your application, you will become part of an applicant pool. Candidates hired from this pool will fill temporary, non-tenure track positions. The teaching load for this lecturer position is a maximum of 2 courses per semester. Appointments will be part-time (less than 50%) and will be made semester-by-semester, depending on the needs of the department and subject to budgetary approval. Therefore, this posting does not necessarily reflect a current open position. The School Psychology program will contact you if an opening matches your qualifications.

What you will do :

Lead class lectures, discussions, and develop and grade assignments

Maintain gradebook and assignments via Canvas

Maintain availability for students via email

We are currently recruiting for the following course : SPSY 6510 - Typical and Atypical Development and Mental Health and Wellbeing

This is a face to face course on the CU Denver campus, in Spring 2025 or possibly in future semesters . This course is designed to introduce doctoral school psychology students to theories, research, and key social-cultural concepts in typical and atypical child and adolescent development (including Autism, ADHD, etc.) pertinent to the field of school psychology. The course includes an emphasis on exploring adversity and atypical developmental trajectories in a variety of cultural contexts and how these impact mental health and wellbeing, as well as functioning in educational settings.

This position involves working closely with students where the person may become aware of campus safety issues that may need to be reported as part of CU's commitment to compliance with the Clery Act. The person in this role will receive the related training and be required to submit data once per year to the campus Clery Act team. Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)

Earned doctoral degree in school psychology or related field

Evidence of understanding of child development, as well as psychopathology

Minimum required experience : experience delivering psychological services to children in schools and / or clinical settings

If a degree is in an unrelated field, the candidate must demonstrate at least 18 graduate level credit hours in related discipline and / or 5 years' experience in the field related to the course documented on the CV. Candidates need to supply some evidence (e.g., subject matter expertise or leadership expertise) of experience.

Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)

Licensed as a psychologist

Experience teaching graduate courses

Experience in working with children and families from minoritized populations

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience with psychological assessment and the DSM

Knowledge of lifespan development

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position has been established at $5,000, for a fully-enrolled 3-credit course. This will be a semester-by-semester appointment, with the possibility of renewal. If your appointment in this position continues, you will be notified in writing each term.

The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

This part-time appointment is not eligible for group health, life insurance, and retirement benefits. As of January 1, 2021, Lecturer positions will accrue sick leave at a rate of 0.034 hours per hour worked with a maximum accrual of 48 hours per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).
