Job Title : City Of Bedford Public Works Maintenance Worker
Directs, coordinates, and performs daily activities of workers engaged in installing, maintaining, and repairing facilities and infrastructure of the City of Bedford.
General
- Physically locates underground and surface infrastructure using GIS applications, maps and engineered plans.
- Originates and receives work requests through the work order system. Submits photographs, descriptions, documentation and other data into the system in a timely manner.
- Operates and completes maintenance to a variety of hand tools and small equipment.
- Operates and provides daily preventative maintenance and cleaning of heavy equipment such as backhoes, excavators, jetter trucks, trenchers, tractors, vacuum trucks and trailers, television inspection devices and other specialized equipment.
- Assists other Divisions of the Public Works Department and other city Departments as needed
- Will perform other assignments and handle special projects as directed.
- Installs, maintains and removes work zone traffic control in accordance with standard operation procedures, TXMUTCD and engineered drawings. Leads and conducts flagging operations as needed for work with the ROW.
- Regular and timely attendance is required as well as the ability to get along with others in a professional and cordial manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities :
Assists the Crew Chief in supervision of assigned employees in the particular area of responsibility. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and / or Experience :

Specialized Ksas :
Working knowledge of municipal infrastructure systems, including water distribution and wastewater collection, stormwater conveyance and street maintenance. Working knowledge of street, water, wastewater, and drainage maintenance procedures and equipment operating practices. Demonstrated ability to operate trenching and backfill equipment in congested underground environments and to perform routine equipment maintenance and problem solving. Must have or be able to complete a confined space training.
Physical Demands :
