Job description

About Us

We provide industry-leading, end-to-end fire protection, mechanical, and HVAC services. Our skilled tradespeople work in virtually every market across the nation.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Director, the Regional HSE Professional provides hands-on, regional HSE support across multiple active projects within an assigned geographic area. This is a field-forward, boots-on-the-ground role that routinely walks job sites, observes work in progress, and engages crews and supervision to identify hazards and confirm controls are in place and effective. The Regional HSE Professional works with foremen, superintendents, and project leadership to mitigate hazardous conditions in real time, reinforce safe work behaviors, and help crews plan work safely and consistently.

In addition to active field support, the Regional HSE Professional identifies patterns, trends, and recurring conditions across projects that may influence decision-making and behaviors, and supports consistent, risk-informed application of company HSE programs. The role partners with Site HSE Supervisors (when assigned) share regional learnings, coordinate priorities, and reinforce consistent program applications. The Regional HSE Professional collaborates with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen to provide field-based coaching, verification, and escalation support related to health, safety, and environmental risk management; however, this position does not direct day-to-day construction operations, production sequencing, scheduling, staffing, or means and methods.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

This position will report to the nearest branch office location and is a traveling role and requires regular and frequent travel, including overnight stays, to active projects within an assigned geographic region. Travel is necessary to observe work activities, engage with project leadership, and support regional HSE objectives. Travel frequency and regional coverage are determined based on operational needs and in coordination with the HSE Director. Upon approval from the HSE Director, this position may be a hybrid role. Based on your location, your branch office can be Fremont OH, Marion OH, or Hilliard OH.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains sustained field engagement across active projects within the assigned region by routinely walking job sites, observing work in progress, engaging crews and supervision, and following up to verify hazards are mitigated and controls remain effective; coordinates multiple project visits and overnight travel as project conditions require.

  • Provides field-based coaching, guidance, and escalation support to Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen to strengthen pre-task planning, hazard recognition, and risk-informed decision-making, without assuming responsibility for day-to-day project execution.

  • Escalates unresolved hazardous conditions or repeated non-compliance through appropriate leadership channels.

  • Coordinates regional HSE support activities, including third-party testing or sampling when required, and communicates findings and needs through appropriate HSE and project leadership channels.

  • Identifies trends and common conditions across projects, including potential serious injury and fatality (SIF) precursors, and communicates findings to the HSE Director and appropriate leadership to support system-level learning and improvement.

  • Supports consistency in the application of company HSE programs by observing implementation across projects and providing feedback to improve clarity, usability, and effectiveness; reinforces consistent expectations through field verification and follow-up.

  • Supports targeted field communications across projects (e.g., toolbox talks, briefings, or focused safety meetings) based on observed conditions, changing scope, and regional trends/lessons learned.

  • Participates in the review of incidents, near-misses, and significant events occurring across the region to support learning, pattern recognition, and appropriate escalation; assists with verification of corrective actions as assigned.

  • Conducts and document employee safety observations, project/site inspections (including company property as applicable), and periodic company vehicle safety inspections during regional field visits, as needed.

  • Documents field observations, coaching provided, hazards identified/mitigated, trends, and notable findings in the company's HSE reporting system to support communication, analysis, and continuous improvement.

  • Develops and maintains an individual professional development plan, approved by the HSE Director, and completes ongoing job-relevant professional development in accordance with the Workforce Capability & Competency Program.
