Job Summary
The Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA), Public Health Services is seeking qualified individuals for the position of
SENIOR PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE
Interviews for Epidemiology will be held the week of March 17, 2025.
Interviews for Maternal Child and Family Health Services will be held the week of March 24, 2025.
Job offers will be made shortly after the interviews.
Senior Public Health Nurses perform professional public health nursing in homes, public health centers, and other community settings. As a Senior Public Health Nurse, you will act as a lead nurse providing consultation, conducting home visits in urban and rural communities, assessing and identifying individual and community health needs, and providing case management to high-risk populations. The list established from this recruitment will be used to fill vacancies in various HHSA departments.
This position will be heavily involved in conducting outreach, including making community program presentations and collaborating with area schools, community clinics, family resource centers, etc. to promote and support the County's Live Well, San Diego initiative.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, training, and / or experience that demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above. Required education and experience :
Three (3) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital or clinic, or public health nursing field; OR,
Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital or clinic, or public health nursing field.
Note : Must have applied for a Registered Nurse License from the California Board of Registered Nursing at time of application.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
As part of the County of San Diego's pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Additional types of background investigations may be conducted based on the job-related activities of the position. Note : Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
EVALUTION PROCESS
Qualified applicants will be placed on a six (6) month eligible list based on scores received during the evaluation of information provided on the employment application and supplemental questionnaire.
