Public Safety Officer

Under basic supervision, the Public Safety Officer is responsible for performing non-emergency public contact functions within the Police Department.

Examples of Duties:

• Receives calls for service; takes reports both over the phone and in person; enters data into proper computer system.
• Maintains Police Department equipment.
• Assists Crime Prevention Officers with program and presentations to the public.
• Provides crime prevention information to officers, the public and other police agencies as needed.
• Deploy Speed Trailers/Dollies, and/or Radar Data Collectors.
• Assist with answering and responding to the non-emergency phone line and monitor the anonymous tip line.
• Assist with monthly and annual State and City reports.
• May be assigned to assist other divisions within the Police Department as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED. A minimum of one-year of customer service experience in a similar environment. Possession of a valid Texas drivers license.
